About the changing world all around us

Happy Halloween!

Hello friends! Just stopping in to wish you a Happy Halloween. Although we don’t celebrate Halloween so much in Norway we try to keep in the spirit of things, our family being half American of course. My kids knocked repeatedly on our own door and said Trick or Treat LOL!!! You see the boys are now 17 and 20 so trick or treating is kind of out of the question for them. So instead they had some friends over and a little pizza party and video game time in the furnished basement. Thank God for that basement, I think it has saved our sanity more than once. The furnished part is quite simple, but I picked up a used 36″ Nokia Television when my girlfriend bought a new flat screen TV. They have Playstation 3 (I hope that is right) and Guitar Hero as well as an assortment of other games to entertain themselves with.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

I confess this pic isn’t from this Halloween, but it is Renny’s favorite picture of me 🙂 It was taken when my kids were a bit smaller on the occasion of a Halloween party here. I used make myself up in my Kitty costume every year for the kids when I was a preschool teacher.

I must apologize for not blogging much this week, although I have been around visiting some of my friends here in the blogsphere when I have a few minutes. I am just so busy for the time being. I have to keep reminding myself how lucky I am, that I am perusing what I want in life. I want to take my Masters in Social work and I do love to learn, my job at the women’s shelter is very exciting, and my family is dong well. I am juggling more then I think is humanly possible sometimes and really the definition of ‘having it all’, but sometimes I am get really beat. I have 2 term papers and an exam within the next 5 weeks. So I will just have to keep up with you all when it is possible for me.

I wish you all a lovely weekend, and a very happy Halloween!! If you want to see more dressing up, come and see Renny’s post on Olga the Traveling bra playing dress up with the statues in Vigeland Sculpture park in Oslo!

  1. Happy Halloween!!! You know we have not had one trick or treater? I think they are all afraid of our long dark driveway!

DianeCA: Well you know it is pretty spooky up there at night ;.)

  2. Sorry I made you homesick… but you don’t look so sad on that picture!

DianeCA: That’s because its a costume! Just kidding, I do miss the Great Pumpkin though.

  3. Happy Halloween ! Here in Belgium it is the same not very much Halloween yet, but for the first time in 33 years I had 8 little pumpkins, witches and devils ringing at my door ! Apparently Halloween arrives in Brussels ! and you can see a Halloween party under the Atomium !

DianeCA: Cool! I would like to join that party. And we have actually been to the Atomium as you know -which is so much fun because I can see it in my memory!

  4. Of course this pic is one of my favourite as it shows your happiness and creativeness.

Btw: Thanks for your support and for playing with Olga together with me 😉

DianeCA: Well you don’t think I would let you go running around Oslo alone with a BRA do you?? I have to tag along to soothe the sceptics and to keep those pretty girls in check!

  5. Happy Halloween – love the picture hehehe

DianeCA: A little makeup can do wonders for my appearance. I don’t usually wear quite so much to work though !

  6. I like those smiling faces…. 🙂

    DianeCA:
Its a really good costume, so just to be clear I am the head on the left hehehe.

  7. It sounds like you had a great Halloween, despite the fact that you’ve been so busy. I hope you won’t work too much though, finding some relax time in between.

I can understand why that is Renny’s fave photo, you look soooo good girl!

Well, you’re not the first parent I hear such words from, the basement seem to be a life saver of many parents sanity…. *giggles*

I believe everyone is extra busy this fall, it feels like that anyway. Me too, even though I haven’t any exams or work to do. Things seem to gather anyway!

  8. Cute picture!!!

I think it’s really funny that your kids do that. I remember going to my neighbor’s house and doing that over and over again because they had all my favorite candy. They just thought it was funny.

Don’t apologize for not being online all that much… I’m really glad you’re doing what you’re doing. 🙂 Keep it up!

  9. That is a wonderful photo of you!

Your boys’ hangout in the basement sounds a lot like my son’s basement hangout too. I say make any mess he wants down there with his friends, I don’t have to see it. 🙂

Most of the time busy is a very good thing, even if it’s challenging at the time.

    Enjoy your week!

  10. Great photo! Happy Halloween to you too! (Well, what I mean is, hope you had a good one).

  11. oh good gravy, you certainly have enough to keep you quite busy. so the kids have lots to entertain themselves with….did you give them candy repeatedly when they knocked on your own door.? hehehe

  12. A Happy Belated Halloween to you. You are so cute dressed as a kitty. I can see you enjoy the holidays. Your inner child really shines through. 🙂

I understand about not being online. I think a lot of us are having the same issues with life taking over. I will still keep visiting.

  13. Happy Halloween to you Diane even though it is somewhat late. I like this picture with the pumpkin so cool!

  14. I have given you an award – please collect from my blog.
